Husqvarna Ring Saw
by Rich, the concrete cutter -
This ring saw is a good machine for cutting concrete or block in the 5" to 10" range. It is not good for the first 5 inches of material because the blade is too flexible. If you want a strait cut. You need to cut the first 5 inches whith a regular cut off saw and then swich to the ring saw to go deeper. It is valuable tool for getting through a 8" to 10" wall from one side but don't think that it's the only saw you'll need. It is safe to use as it does not have enough torque or speed to jump out of the wall very hard and the slow blade speed is actually good for cutting concrete. It will cut metal in concrete but the flex in the blade would make cutting thick metal a miserable experience, not to mention diamond blades are not the best suited for this purpose. Alltogether a good machine, but designed to be used by professional concrete cutters.
Gas Ring Saw

This concrete ring saw is a great asset, but you need to know what you are doing when cutting. Its great for corner cuts for doors and windows but not cost effective to make the entire cut. I would recommend this to any professional concrete egress installer but this is not for the average joe user. Great saw, but cost per cut can be expensive.
