What are Walk Behind Concrete Saws
A walk behind concrete saw functions similarly to a portable circular saw but the main difference is that it is meant to cut large areas of concrete slab. These are used for cutting driveways, sidewalk, highways or warehouse flooring for maintenance or replacement purposes. The blade sizes for these machines range from 14" - 72" diameter, can be a manual push saw or a self propelled saw, and weigh between 200 - 4000 pounds.
These saws can be used for wet or dry cutting but wet cutting is recommended to maximize blade life and dust control. Depending on how deep you are going to cut, water will make the difference on how fast you will be able to cut into a slab. We offer many options for road and street work, airport runways and smaller residential projects to fit your needs. The modern machines are orange and despite some differences they have the same quality and reliability as their target predecessors.
What kind of blades do you use on these saws?
Walk behind blades which are used for these saws which are usually diamond blades that can last longer than their non-diamond counterparts. Typically blades that are for wet-cutting are better suited for this because the cut can be deeper as the blade is cooled by the water. If wet-cutting blades are used it is important to use them only with water and not for dry cutting as the high temperature will quickly warp the blade.
Do You Push or Pull a Walk Behind Saw?
These saws are generally self propelled or a very gentle push is required for it to move forward. In most cases very little physical energy is required to move these machines. It is advised to let the machine do the work as the depth of cut is shallow and simply guiding it will be enough.
