An outdoor party tent heater is capable of heating white tents for large events. These highly efficient heaters can run on either propane or natural gas. Ducts and diffusers can be added to heat tents faster and easier. A heated tent is perfect for weddings, restaurants and large gatherings.
They are highly versatile, safe, and efficient heaters for both indoor and outdoor. Event tent heaters are direct fired and have an internal flame that make them 99.97% efficient. They can be used indoors as long as there is sufficient outside air flow into the building or tent they are heating. Some sites have ventilation equipment that can aid in proper air flow but ensuring that there is enough fresh air into the building is crucial to support tent heating. They also can be used outdoors as well and can be ducted indoors through a doorway or under a covered tent. They run off of propane (most popular) or natural gas. Some units offer a dual fuel option where both types of fuel can be used by flipping a switch. They come in a variety of sizes, 40,000, 80,000, 170,000 and 360,000 BTU options. Standard accessories on most units include a thermostat, regulator and transport wheels.
Commercial Event Tent Heaters
These party tent heaters are also used in many commercial applications, due to their high efficiency rate and enclosed flame, many contractors are choosing tent heaters over inefficient kerosene torpedo heaters. While the upfront cost is higher on tent heaters the ability to have a heater ducted in from outside or the ability to keep inside with some fresh air coming in, makes these heaters a worthwhile investment.
Event Tent Heater Buying Guide
What Size Tent Heater Should I get?
This is an important question as tents come in a variety of sizes some of the most popular are 10 x 10, 10 x 20, 20 x 20, 20 x 30, 30 x 30. There are some important questions to answer before making a decision. Once the questions below are answered, you will know what size heater you will need.
What temperature is needed inside of a tent for an event?
This involves heat rise, if the temperature needed inside during the event is 70 degrees and the minimum outdoor temperature is 30 degrees, then the differential is 40 degrees which becomes the heat rise.
What is the size of tent?
This involves the dimensions of the building or tent. If the length is 40 feet and width is 30 feet and the height is 10 feet, that means you have 12,000 square feet to heat up.
40 x 30 x 10 = 12,000 cubic feet.

Ducts For Tent Heaters
There are a few options to consider, one of the easiest ways to disperse heat is through an end diffuser and these diffusers come in 2 different styles. The first style mounts directly to the heater and the other diffuser connects to a tent heater duct which is 12 – 16 feet long. Why 2 options? This is due to local code in each state as many states require the fuel to be located a certain amount of feet away from the building. Depending on the code and distance needed a diffuser and a duct setup may be required. Another option is perforated ducts for even distribution for the length or width of the tent.
